"The EVGA GTX 980 Ti SC+ is currently available for $670, which is a $20 price premium over the NVIDIA reference board, a reasonable increase that is definitely worth it. The card is not only much faster, it also runs cooler and quieter. At its price point, the card's price/performance ratio is also better than that of the GTX 980 Ti and GTX 980."

"As I mentioned in the intro, I called NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980 Ti the “new King” of high-end GPUs last month, so it’s pretty hard to go wrong with a solution that builds off of that, cranks the clocks even further, and decks it out with an improved cooler. EVGA’s Superclocked+ GTX 980 Ti is a great card."

"Well built and shipped with a tidy 1,190MHz boost frequency, this premium solution justifies its price point with top-notch performance at extreme resolutions, comfortable under-load temperatures and a level of noise that ranges between deathly silent and barely audible. Averaging 60fps at a 4K resolution while keeping heat and noise in check is testament to how far Nvidia's Maxwell architecture has been able to stretch, and EVGA has maximised those strengths in a single-GPU package that's as accomplished as they come."

"Not only has EVGA quickly reacted to the Sea Hawks presence by softening the Hybrids financial blow (it can be found for $729 now) and offering a free shroud upgrade but it also features lower temperatures and, in my opinion at least, slightly better build quality. Many will also appreciate the Hybrids true plug-and-play abilities given the Sea Hawks dependence on the motherboards input for fan speeds."

"As for performance, this is the fastest GTX 970 we have tested, without doubt. Our manual overclocking test saw the core hit 1450Mhz (approx) with memory peaking at 2000MHz resulting in 3DMark score of 6004. A very nice increase indeed. EVGA make the card stand out from the competition by adding in a dual BIOS switch, Memory and Mosfet cooling plate, and optimised 6 power phase design which allows up to 33% more power delivery."

"With our overclocks applied, performance from the EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ skyrocketed to GTX 980 levels, which is a fantastic result. Performance in Battlefield 4, Crysis 3 and Unigine improved by between 11 and 14 percent. Power consumption stayed low, peaking at 339W, a modest 21W increase, while the GPU core heated up by 2°C. Meanwhile, the fans did spin up a little more to cope with the increased demand, but only to 36 percent, or about 1,600 RPM, and they were still extremely quiet."
