The EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Superclocked is an impressive card. Not only does it have a better cooler and has a higher clock than the Founders Edition, the noise levels are very impressive even when we compare it to other custom cards. Under load it only produces 33 dB(A), making it one of the quietest cards of this caliber that we have ever tested. At the same time the cooling efficiency is excellent as well

With the GeForce 1070 SuperClocked edition, EVGA has proven that it is able to create one of the best looking cards on the market, by incorporating the efficient and quiet ACX 3.0 cooling system which also stands out thanks to the LED lighting system. Until the card is reaching about 53 degrees Celsius, the fans will stay completely off in order to provide absolute silence while working in a 2D environment; also, being a SuperClocked variant means that the card has been tweaked from the factory with higher clocks than stock Nvidia cards and also features quite a big overclocking headroom as we have seen from our tests.

if you compare the EVGA GTX 1070 SC to the Founders Edition, it's definitely the better deal. You will save 10 bucks and gain amazing noise and temperature levels and no thermal throttling.

Speaking of the fan noise from the ACX 3.0 cooler on the 1070 the noise level during gaming was completely muffled by a case and I did not notice an increase in system noise under normal loads. The temperatures of the 1070 also remained well within limits not exceeding 72 degrees when letting the card automatically manager temperatures. I did test the card at 100% fan speed as I always like to in order to gauge how loud a cooler is. In this instance the noise level was still at a comfortable level.

It’s a great card and I think it is an improvement in every way over the Founders Edition 1070 that is priced at the same price point. I wouldn’t say that about any of the other GTX 1070’s as I normally feel like the Founders Editions do typically stand out in quality even though their cooling and overall performance isn’t as good. The EVGA cards this generation seem to be the cards to beat!

I personally feel it's worth waiting for a GTX 1070. The GTX 1070 consumes less power and includes more graphics memory than previous generation gaming cards (though the Titan X does offer 12GB). It's likely the GTX 1070 will outperform last generation cards in newer games as those arrive on the scene. So unless you're in dire need of a new graphics card, hold onto your wallet and wait for GTX 1070 availability to loosen up.
